Lecture Outline

What were Yukichi Fukuzawa's theories on liberty and happiness, which he learned from Mill and Wayland? Fukuzawa's moral spirit, which he advocated as being "a paragon of intellect and morals for the entire nation," was inherited by Koizumi as a "moral backbone." This lecture will elucidate the fundamental structure of their spiritual legacy and discuss how it can be adapted to contemporary society, while also exploring what "intellect and morals" the Juku of the 21st century should inherit.
