NTT DOCOMO, INC. and the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app Haptics Research Center (hereinafter "´ºÓêÖ±²¥app") have successfully achieved wireless autonomous control of a semi-autonomous robot hand and arm capable of appropriate force adjustment, utilizing Real Haptics?, a robot control technology developed by ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app. This robot can identify the material of an object from the force feedback (haptic information) when grasping it and autonomously select the appropriate action. The real-time analysis of haptic information, combining 5G and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), is a first-of-its-kind initiative in Japan.
